Against Me! True Trans EP

Just over a week ago, Against Me! released the first of their material in a good few years. While a new full album is currently still in the works and going by the name of Transgender Dysphoria Blues, they released a two song EP.

Called True Trans, the EP touches on some very hard issues. Featuring only frontwoman Laura Jane Grace and an acoustic guitar, the songs are mellow and  slow, but keep the essence of Against Me!. That is to say, it’s still raw and it’s still full of emotion and it’s still breaking down issues in the same way they used to.

The focus of these songs is on the lyrics – there’s no riffs, nothing other than a guitar to sing along to. Listening to the lyrics is a heart wrenching experience. In the first song, F***MyLife666, Grace sings about people’s acceptance of her…
